CEDAR CANVAS

Cedar canoes reflect tradition and fundamental elegance of times past. We at Evergreen are committed to the continuance of wooden canoe craftsmanship by building top quality, hand crafted canoes using premium grades of cedar, mahogany, ash, and cherry.

Our precision craftsmen have been building canoes for more than thirty years. Each individual canoe represents something special brought about by the unique and subtle differences in each piece of wood. Protected with long-wearing spar varnish, the end result is a beautiful and durable canoe made from natural materials which can be passed on from generation to generation.

Clear Glass cedar canoes use only the highest quality fiberglass and epoxy resins. Finished off with UV resistant spar varnish, these clearglass versions offer a durable coating that preserves the aesthetic beauty of the wood while providing a feast for the senses.

Verolite finish is made of heavy canvas with vinyl impregnated into the surface. It is light weight with a smooth matte finish. This utility grade of skin has the unique ability of resealing itself after minor abrasions. Provides a look of canvas with the added durability of vinyl.

Traditional Canvas A traditional canvas finish consists of heavy canvas with multiple layers of filler followed by canvas paint. This is the heaviest of all finishes but also the most easily refinished - with a coat of paint.

Cedar Strip Our cedar strip canoes are built from narrow strips of bead and cove red cedar, which are fibreglassed inside and out. The result is a stunningly attractive light weight and durable canoe without any tack holes -- a first in the canoe industry.

COMPOSITE MATERIALS

Hand Laid Fibreglass technique results in a canoe that is stronger and lighter than those make by faster machine-made processes. The highest grades of fibreglass are employed ensuring strength, durability and longevity. We use full layers of fiberflass to provide the lateral strength needed to take a hard impact.

Everteck is an advanced lay-up using high grades of fibreglass with Kevlar reinforcement in impact areas. The result is a stronger, lighter canoe that is a truly outstanding value. The same foam core system used in our Kevlar boats is also employed, ensuring a light, strong, stiff and most of of all, durable hull.

Evergreen Kevlar canoes are all made from Dupont Kevlar. Kevlar is the material of choice for demanding paddlers who desire a strong tripping canoe that is also extremely lightweight. Evergreen's unique liquid foam core bottoms create a stronger lay-up, adding extra durability and stiffness while reducing the weight.

Royalex® - a very tough, relatively light and extremely forgiving multilaminate material. So rugged in fact that if the canoe is folded in half with the bow touching the stem, it can be bent back into shape with minimum hull deformity. These qualities plus the high abrasion resistance makes Royalex® canoes the preferred material for dedicated white water enthusiasts or by individuals demanding a canoe that can handle extreme abuse.

Evergreen rnoulds two grades of Royalex® . The light duty (Lt) versions provide all the durability that Royalex® has a reputation for, at a moderately light weight, acheived by using a thinner interior laminate. The Heavy duty (Hd) versions are for those who consistently use their canoe in the most demanding of situations like white water or rental applications.
